Away for a long weekend; returning to your all-encompassing assessment of our current "situation". I have sent your blog to my friends and I WILL send you their email addreses.

But apart from that we now have an acknowledged rapist (he paid her off) who has little support for women running the defense department...Women in the military???? And pulling out of WHO and the Paris Accords? Teachers (and Colombia) are pushing back against wholesale unsupported 'taking' of children or 'immigrants' by ICE.

For myself:? I keep informed; I sign petitions (such as the one circulating in support of the Bishop of the National Cathedral calling him out); I give money; but emotionally I am taking a step back and 'watching'. I am giving little of my 'energy' to a situation where I have little control. I have enough going on with friends and family that to waste energy where I am impotent is not going to happen. I will just - Do what you say we must do!!๐Ÿ˜‡

I am amazed that you think there will be a future from which historians will be able to look back. I think America has voted for a madman who can cause total annihilation to our planet.

All this was known, and stated, eight years ago. Yet half of America voted for him. Now he's back, a proven sex pest and convicted felon with all the legacy of Jan.6th in addition. And now over half of America has voted for him, or failed to vote against him.

Figure that out, because Trump is a figurehead for Maga. If you can't solve maga then Trump doesn't matter. The Nazis would have still been Nazis if Hitler had been bumped off in 1938.

No, Americans were not warned. They were not protected. For the past 50 years, American business, industry, education, healthcare, leisure....were all designed for pleasure and profit. Societal problems were dismissed or ignored. Those in charge then are still in charge today, more numerous and more powerful. The two-party system of government leaves little choice to the people and scant hope for change. And when nations cannot evolve naturally and peacefully, they go to war.

The checks and balances in the US system refer to the separation of powers, not the people in the Presidentโ€™s administration who -as they say- โ€˜serve at the pleasure of the Presidentโ€™

Trump is doing nothing to dismantle those checks and balances as I see it.

A critical check however is the press. And I am gratified to see the mainstream media being extremely critical of many of his actions. This is a good thing especially if you consider how willing most of the corporate media was to cover up and spin his predecessorโ€™s actions.

We need an oppositional 4th estate which was sorely missing before. We have it now. Thatโ€™s a good thing.

As for โ€˜malignant narcissismโ€™ I think we have had many leaders who would qualify for that diagnosis in addition to Trump. Perhaps someday we will have a system of government which somehow shields us from these power hungry entitled individuals. But for now sadly it seems they have a competitive advantage when it comes to becoming CEOs and political leaders.
